APPLICATIONS

Eastbound is primarily an invite-only game — each existing player can currently invite up to one person per month, or get in touch about further invites. Existing players can hold two characters in game. A third character can be applied, if players can prove they have met activity requirements for two consecutive months with their existing two characters and have stayed engaged with the game. If you don't have an invite, somehow stumbled upon this neck of the woods, and you’d like to stay, drop the mod journal a line — we'll try to figure it out.

As of Oct. 1, cast/game caps are off. Please note, as of Dec. 1, Eastbound only has 3-4 months of gameplay left.

WHAT CHARACTERS CAN BE APPLIED?

YES: canon and original characters, if they have a solid and consistent personality and background. Characters brought in after they've died are a-okay. For characters taken from a time point just as they're in the process of dying, please read below on meeting medical requirements.

NO (at this time): real people, original characters set in a canon environment, characters from canons or canon instalments that have been released for less than one month, characters with imported development from other games (CRAU), alternate universe, or gender-swapped versions of canon characters.

Children or characters with very specific medical/magical/environment needs: appable, but please make a note of how your character will ICly meet their requirements and stay alive. Likewise, if you are applying for a character taken just as they're dying, provide a suggestion for how they can be kept alive on arrival (this might be easier in some app cycles than others). You can bend the world a little to make miracles happen (ex: a substitute for the medication your character needs to survive can be found for a high price at certain apothecaries, etc.)

Characters that were dropped or swept by activity checks: yes, but they’ll come back without their previous memories, if they are applied in by a different player.

A mod-assigned one would be fun! His biggest regret is not seeing through Jin Guangyao's façade and for being so gullible that it's almost laughable.

1. I'll keep Ruka's job as an entertainer/musician that I made up for her, but if you've got anything to add for it, go for it.

2. Shove her in a house of your choosing, have fun.

2. One of her biggest regrets is that she can't remember her father's face. She can't remember a time of seeing him without the mask on and her illness has caused her to forget so much about him specifically. He caused her Moonlight Syndrome to begin with, but she just wants to remember more about him and at this point in time, she can't.

3. haunting!! becoming the FIST OF KHONSHU. it has "done absolutely nothing [good] for his life and cost him everything", and he hates everything about it and what he's done as moon knight. (and yet.)

1. lbr he'll just follow xie lian around and do whatever he's doing/wants him to do..
2. i'm down! it probably won't take him long to invite himself into wherever his hubs is staying tho.
3. not to sound like a broken record, but most of his regrets have to do with xie lian. i'd say probably the biggest one is not being strong enough at the time to protect him from being tortured by white no-face and losing hope/falling into a vengeful state against yong'an.

1. We can go with mod assigned on the job.
2. Housing wise? Wherever his sister is.
3. His biggest regret is all the deaths he caused even if he had no control over himself at the time.

Sure! This sample is out of the one-year range (about 18 months old) but I do really like it and it's got a lot of what makes Beckett tick. If it's not okay to use something that old as a supplement then I'll be happy to write another!

Gotcha:

Beckett didn't cry on the shuttle heading to Starbase 80, as the Cerritos warped away. She'd never thought that her mom - no, Captain Freeman - could be so vindictive. She didn't even listen when Mariner tried to explain what was going on. All she'd done was sing the praises of the Cerritos and her captain, and for that she was all but court-martialed. Nobody was giving her the benefit of the doubt. Even Jennifer thought the worst of her! At least Rutherford, Boimler, and Tendi didn't think that, but...it didn't really matter, did it? The Cerritos had been more than her posting, it had been home. And now she'd been exiled, posted to the worst assignment in Starfleet.

She curled her hand into a fist, digging her fingers into her palm. It wasn't fair! Starfleet was built on justice and fairness and she'd jump on a photon torpedo for people she loved, and it seemed like instead even her own mother would just rather push her in front of one to save face. Well, no more. She'd said a long time ago that if she ever got kicked off the Cerritos she'd quit Starfleet, and now it was time to put her latinum where her mouth was.

The thought of being adrift as a civilian terrified her, she'd admit that much to herself, but she had contacts throughout the Federation. Her name wasn't mud everywhere yet.

That archaeologist chick from the Galardonian fair - Petra? - she'd said something about getting in touch if Beckett ever wanted to leave Starfleet. Good thing I didn't delete her contact information.

As the shuttle approached Starbase 80, she knew what she had to do. First, she was going to resign her commission. Second, she was going to call Petra Aberdeen back about becoming an ass-kicking space archaeologist. If Starfleet had turned its back on her, she was perfectly willing to turn her back on Starfleet.

So why, then, was the place she most wanted to be hanging out in the ship's bar with her only friends?

Hi! Thanks for getting back to me <3

I'm pretty sure I can bang out a new writing sample related to his canon point, but before I start I'd like to be clear on what kind of minimum and maximum word count you're looking for, and how much divergence from his canon point is okay while still displaying my roleplaying skills. Would showing how I think he would react if a single thing that happened just prior to his canon departure played out differently, for example? I'm reluctant to simply regurgitate canon with extra IC commentary, as I don't think that would be any fun for me to write or for you to read.

I have no problem with making an opt out post if I'm accepted, however. It's always been my intention to be up-front about Shen Yuan's issues and let other players make their own choices about how comfortable they are with interacting with him.

Hi! Could you explain what you mean by the samples being scarce? I want to make sure I will make sufficient activity in the future. :)

As for your questions, rubs hands together:

1. she will ignore it so i don't want you to make the effort for nothing lmao
2. yes please
3. yes! aloy feels tremendous guilt over being unable to stop the death of her friend, varl. she initially tried to keep him from following her on a dangerous mission, for fear that he would be hurt, but he insisted and was ultimately murdered in front of her after all.

Is there a write up somewhere that talks more about death-touched, or is this simply something I need to keep in mind when it comes up on arcs? Awww, friends! Okay, friends he'll try to make more dead, but friends!

1. Mod's choice!
2. Mod's choice!
3. His biggest regret is not being there to save his family; classic survivor's guilt. His first couple encounters with a haunting he's liable to want to destroy the ghost. I'm okay if this either just isn't possible (welcome to a new way of doing things, Locky) or if you'd like me to come up with ways to force some chill on the boy?
