Eastbound is primarily an invite-only game — each existing player can currently invite up to one person per month, or get in touch about further invites. Existing players can hold two characters in game. A third character can be applied, if players can prove they have met activity requirements for two consecutive months with their existing two characters and have stayed engaged with the game. If you don't have an invite, somehow stumbled upon this neck of the woods, and you’d like to stay, drop the mod journal a line — we'll try to figure it out.
As of Oct. 1, cast/game caps are off. Please note, as of Dec. 1, Eastbound only has 3-4 months of gameplay left.
WHAT CHARACTERS CAN BE APPLIED?
YES: canon and original characters, if they have a solid and consistent personality and background. Characters brought in after they've died are a-okay. For characters taken from a time point just as they're in the process of dying, please read below on meeting medical requirements.
NO (at this time): real people, original characters set in a canon environment, characters from canons or canon instalments that have been released for less than one month, characters with imported development from other games (CRAU), alternate universe, or gender-swapped versions of canon characters.
Children or characters with very specific medical/magical/environment needs: appable, but please make a note of how your character will ICly meet their requirements and stay alive. Likewise, if you are applying for a character taken just as they're dying, provide a suggestion for how they can be kept alive on arrival (this might be easier in some app cycles than others). You can bend the world a little to make miracles happen (ex: a substitute for the medication your character needs to survive can be found for a high price at certain apothecaries, etc.)
Characters that were dropped or swept by activity checks: yes, but they’ll come back without their previous memories, if they are applied in by a different player.

1. You mention that she would be alarmed by the use of weapons, survival, etc. We have a dearth of characters with diplomacy/strategy/con skills, so there is a functional need for Kim in the game. However, there's a fair bit of survival/adventure and mystery-horror — and it's in our interest to give Kim a shot at making it through.
Since it sounds as if she's not fond of inflicting violence, would it work to maybe equip her with some kind of self-defence magical McGuffin (think: a trinket that lets her summon a ward or defensive shield that keeps her safe for 10min while she thinks up ways to exit unpleasant situations)? Definitely don't want to ruin her vibe, and happy for her to go about her business fending for herself, if that sounds better — only want to extend the option, in case it helps with your ease of gameplay.
2. We're currently in Arc IV, where characters are (mod-)assigned allegiance and a pseudo-role in one of two citadel halves. They can still cross over into the other citadel half, as long as they're discreet — but if you have a preference between Eidris and Minaras, drop a line.

1. Absolutely, Kim is in for a pretty steep learning curve – I don't think she'll ever be okay with violence or flippant about it, but she'll do what she needs to, and she can certainly tap into the same mettle she uses to yell at armed cartel guys and translate that to other scary situations. I do agree that having some sort of magic defense shield sounds like a great idea to get her acclimatized, but think I'd drop the count down to 5 mins, and definitely would love a way for her to acquire/earn it rather than have it dropped into her lap, if that's okay!
2. Let's go Minaras! She may not have "steampunk" in her vocabulary yet, but she likes classic movies, so she'd get a kick out of all this Metropolis lookin' stuff... aaaand she couldn't do "carefree" to save her life, give her all the structure where she can get it :')

INTRO
Since you were open to a plottier entry, let’s give fair Kim a clue into the ongoing mystery investigation of Serthica: after unwinding, she wakes with everyone else in the Mouse House orphanage run by Ma’am Mariol, biding her time while the group negotiates its safe return overground. One very early morning, Kim may be woken by noise in the kitchens, where one of the household orphans — a certain Gavroche — is rapidly and prolifically writing letters he shoves into envelopes. He is just consumed enough by the task that he doesn’t notice Kim, not even when he briefly rushes back in his quarters, to collect his coat.
If Kim studies the envelopes, she will notice they are written in sharply dissimilar handwriting, addressed to different people. On some envelopes, the ink still seems fresh; on others, it’s dried.
If she opens one (or more) envelopes, she may notice they contain letters written by recipients' relatives who live overground, in either Eidris or Minaras. The letters often describe domestic anecdotes, lacking substance.
Gavroche returns to collect the correspondence. He hands out newspapers and letters as part of his work as a post delivery boy.
