Hello! Yeah, I can definitely ditch the headcanon stuff. Most of it is just expansion on things that are talked about in the show, but the only things that were completely headcanon were Jesse's undiagnosed ADHD and his parents not allowing him to go to art school. Also that he was specifically kicked out of his house because he failed out of college (when he went to live with his aunt).
That being said, the ideas weren't plucked out of thin air. There is a lot in-show that points to his interest in visual arts while growing up (old sketchbooks/drawings of his that are looked at in detail), the way his parents fawn over his younger brother Jake (an overachiever) while snubbing Jesse make me believe there is a specific path they would have liked him to follow which he didn't,and some of his mannerisms/habits align with symptoms of ADHD (executive functioning issues, impulsiveness, fidgeting, easy to distract, difficulty with focusing on certain things, etc.) He did leave his parents' house to live with his Aunt Ginny and he also only attended college for one week at DeVry doing data entry. It's just that they don't specifically say he went to live with his aunt because his parents kicked him out for that specific reason.
That being said, I'm totally cool with sticking to things that are specifically discussed in show. I usually use headcanon to fill in the holes/round out the gaps in their stories, but I have no problem with leaving some things out. A lot of his past is unlikely to come up in scenes or dialogue anyway and is largely just for my own brain :).
