All game-relevant updates will be posted on lostcompass, but if you’re fond of plurk, consider following eastbound.
Like it says on the application page tin — you can have a maximum of two characters in the game, and you can invite one new person in per month!
If you’re not already served on that front, we have some custom codes to help you set up a character inbox or permissions post. Both are entirely optional, and feel free to customise at will!
Your character is exempted from activity requirements this month.
There is an informal discord server for the game, if you’re into that kind of thing — you’ll get a private message with an invite, once you comment to the Taken List!
As you predicted, we’ll have to soften his invulnerability. If we don't, he’ll become unplayable for you, since he’ll have no real stakes or encounter real threats in the game. I leave it up to you how you want to handle this.
NOTES
INTRO: Achilles will be joining us just at the end of the lockdown event, as the palace begins to open its gates. He will be brought in by a group of healers who encountered him walking in a haze through Taravast, seemingly dismissed of his senses. Later, Achilles himself will be unable to recall what exactly possessed him to wander, other than a sense of perpetual restlessness, that wherever he went now was unsuitable. He will not recall how he materialised in Taravast. If he ever investigates his memories, he may remember there was white (opium) dust on his fingertips.
One of the more merciful healers takes him in, with an eye to help cure him while undertaking her duties at the Doxe’s bedside. For two days, Achilles is held largely within a small quarter he shares with the healer — who does not speak his tongue — and the gardens. On the third day, he encounters the sorceress Karsa, an employee of the party’s Merchant benefactor who is currently journeying with the caravan.
She gives Achilles a communication and translation device and explains both his whereabouts and the story so far. As part of the electoral espionage team divisions, Achilles will be assigned to Vannozza Spina, and he will reside in his patron’s wing of the Palazzo of the Doxe while in Taravast.
He is architected the identity of an infamous wine taster, whom noblemen frequently invite to their gatherings. They either make use of his discerning palate to help choose the best offerings for their (many) fetes – or they parade their wine collections before him, hoping to gain his approval and flourish their own reputations as wine connoisseurs. His job is to drink himself silly on other peoples’ dime, then make them feel particularly bad for their wine tastes.
He will find himself easily influencing gentry and having very easy access to the best gatherings. (Nearly) any gatherings. He’s walking that red carpet.
Karsa can also explain the piazza — a style of communicating to the city at large, with an eye to influence public opinion.
