And since both of these are borderline not in the 12 month limit (and parts of it definitely not), I've also added a written sample:
It's raining again. The pitter-patter of the drops hitting the ground is almost calming. Chu Wanning was carrying an umbrella because casting a barrier to keep the rain off him seeemed excessive. As he walked along the path he thought about the latest design of the Holy Night Guardians. Perhaps, if they could improve the durability then there would be less need for maintenance which would, in turn, mean better and more consistent protection for the poor villages the Holy Night Guardian protected.
His brow furrowed. They would need to do that without increasing the cost of the materials. The production cost was negligible: Chu Wanning did all the work himself, after all.
He slowed to a stop after a moment, not for anything but because he heard footsteps approaching and the sound of laughing conversation.
Disciples.
He knew what would happen if he was spotted. The conversation would stop and the disciples would akwardly greet him before moving on once dismissed. It was how things were when he was involved. After all, he was the feared Yuheng Elder, the Beidou Immortal who was as bad-tempered as he was strong.
In other words, their evening would surely be ruined.
After barely any thought, he closed his own umbrella to make it easier to jump into a nearby tree. He felt a little stupid doing so. He is the cultivation world's strongest grandmaster...and now he's hiding in a tree like some common criminal but as long as no one saw then that was fine.
So he just crouched in the tree, the foliage giving him some protection from the rain but a stray drop here or there still made its way through, landing on him. He paid it no mind. He didn't have to wait long before the disciples moved past. They were chatty amiably among themselves, walking shoulder to shoulder in pairs to stay out of the rain. The umbrellas though, he noticed, weren't quite large enough for some of them and water dripped on their shoulders.
Chu Wanning spotted all this with a frown and, with a flick of his wrist cast a small barrier on some of the umbrellas, a giving the umbrellas a soft, golden sheen from above. The disciples never noticed as they disappeared into the distance. His stance softened and he jumped out of the tree and opened his umbrella again.
Then he continued on his walk only to stop again when he heard a small sound of distress. When he looked around, he spotted nearby a fox with its head inside a hole--no doubt a burrow of some kind.
In a heartbeat, there was a flash and Tianwen had been summoned in his hand. The golden vine was a weapon but when it wrapped around the fox's body and pulled it away from the ground the action was gentle. Naturally, the fox struggled but it was no match for Chu Wanning. Like this he could spot the opening to a burrow and inside of it he could pick out the shape of a rabbit, and, behind it, its babies.
How troublesome...
He didn't sigh but anyone who would have been around to see his frown would probably have turned-tail and run, lest they get dragged in a whipped.
Still, Chu Wanning let the fox down before casting a small barrier around it. "Stay here." He said in the cold, commanding voice of someone who was used to being feared and listened to.
Then he walked away. When he came back, he had two packages in his hands. He placed one package on the ground close to the fox and opened it. Inside there was a little meat he'd gotten from Meng Po Hall's kitchen. "Eat this instead." Then he lifted the barrier.
Then he headed to the rabbit hole and opened the second package: some leafy greens, fresh and crispy. He gently slid it inside the burrow, closer to the rabbits.
Animals were creatures that followed instincts more than logic and, unlike humans, they no doubt didn't understand that before them was someone wholly cold and unlikeable. It's the only reason Chu Wanning can fathom for why they didn't run and, instead, began to eat obediently.
The path was muddy and while he's crouched down the mud is getting into the hem of his white robes. That's something he can deal with later.
He was busy watching the fox and the rabbit eat and was distracted enough that he didn't notice footsteps until they stopped and a confused voice called out 'Shizun'?
Chu Wanning immediately stood up with a glare, embarrassed to have been caught like this, doing something contrary to his reputation.
"They were in my way." He said stiffly as if that were a believable excuse, his glare daring the person he was speaking to to say it wasn't. "I was only trying to get rid of them quickly so they wouldn't take up space on the path." The path which was wide enough for the fox, the rabbit and Chu Wanning to walk at the same time. His fingers curl as his embarassment quickly turns to anger (as it always did) and he thinks, if this disciple tries to say anything he really will summon Tianwen again.
INVENTORY: No living or magical beings, no world-breaking items. For anything colossal (think... Gundams...) please let's talk beforehand!
-medicine he's been keeping on him: allows him to keep his adult appearance even if he uses a lot of spiritual energy. The effects last for seven days and he has about thirty doses on hand. The medicine is unstable, however, and if he gets overly emotional could fail. He has a limited amount but there should be enough to last him about a couple of months or so assuming he doesn't lose any. (He's going to lose some at some point). He needs this because when they fought a magic willow tree he ended up with some of the sap in his body and it's causing his body to shift between his normal adult self to the body of a small child though he is still perfectly himself mentally. -a child's hair clip -a handkerchief embroidered with haitang flowers -Tianwen, Jiuge and Huaisha - The outfit he's wearing which is made of a special kind of fabric that can change sizes with the wearer
NOTES: At some point, he won't have his medicine either because they get ruined/lost or he finishes them (it will probably be the former, haha) and at that point he will either have to ration them, find someone to make him new ones or try buying a replacement. Or you know, find someone to cure him but what is asking for help???
IF ACCEPTED, WOULD YOU WANT A PLOT-LIGHT OR PLOT-HEAVY CUSTOM INTRO? A plot light intro please! Just to get my feet wet.
