Perhaps he picks it up at the arena, or at the marketplace, or a conventionally spooky child gifts it to him one fine morning — either way, Ben finds himself in the possession of a crude, hastily stitched together puppet that bears a remarkable resemblance to... Klaus.

It inevitably also speaks at night to Ben, creepily offering commentary on Ben's actions of the day — including those it most certainly never witnessed — in Klaus' voice. At times, it shows up when he's asleep or in a bathtub to scream demonically in his face.

Only Ben may hear the puppet, which reappears randomly when he tries to get rid of it.

In Klaus style, it is revealed there is a cult of Ephesians around the puppet, if Ben ever takes it out in public and it is witnessed by the peasants plebeians.
