she is deaf but she "hears" fine at the same time because she can sense infinitesimal vibrations of speech so she wouldn't need a translation in return for the most part

i think maybe it could hmm be slow to translate, not really glitchy but if she moves too fast it doesn't catch up well so it could maybe facilitate people learning to sign eventually which would be neat

perhaps like subtitles? only because a spoken voice other than her own might be so discomfiting she stops speaking all together but i'm not entirely sure how the translator works so idk if that is possible lmao and i can work with the spoken words otherwise!
