Unfortunately, it's one of those cases where I'd say you'd probably need to put an app in and make your best case for the character. Based on what you're saying, it sounds as if they'd be skirting the line, but might come a bit short of meeting the personality requirement — but it might be that app detail could tip the scale otherwise. That said, the clear downside is going through the effort of writing an app and taking that gamble, which might not pay off. If you think there's a high risk of that — and I'm really sorry I can't help more, I'm afraid I've never played a video game! — perhaps might be safer to opt for another character.
