That makes sense, yes! Ultimately he normally doesn't change unless he has to because canon has taught him people have a bias against black dragons, so he'd probably save up doing a big change for only when it was last resort anyway. Essentially, I doubt he'd breeze through everything, but it would be fun to have some drama in the back pocket for some point!
